This 16-minute presentation, in Spanish, features the performance of Screen Actor Guild Member and PCT Artistic Director, Pedro Garcia as Father Miguel Hidalgo.
“I’ve been performing this character several years now and each time I find new ways to deliver the monologue, nuances if you will, immersing myself into another time and in the life of this famous priest who helped initiate Mexico’s independence dating back to 1810.”
For the performance, Garcia will dress as the character and perform with recorded original background music by local composer Juan Davila from Edinburg. The monologue culminates with the famous ‘Grito De Dolores,’ The Battle Cry for Independence.
The short presentation will be held on September 15, 2023, with showtimes at 8:00 p.m. and at 9:00 p.m. at Pharr Community Theater, 213 W Newcombe Ave. (Park), Pharr, TX. Each show lasts about 30 minutes with a guest singer to open up, yet to be announced.
Advance tickets can be purchased for $8 at www.pharrcommunitytheater.com, (no surcharge) or for $10 at the door, starting one half hour before each presentation. Seating is limited to 55 persons per show.
