PHARR, TX – The Food Bank Rgv is excited to announce its partnership with popular iHeart radio stations, KTEX FM 100.3, KISS 105.5 / 106.3, and Wild 104.1, for the launch of “Jam the Bus” a School Supply Collection Drive, in support of the Food Bank RGV’s School Tools program. This initiative is dedicated to providing essential school supplies to eligible elementary schools in the Valley, ensuring that students in need have the necessary tools to succeed in their education.
On August 11, 2023, the day of the event, the Food Bank RGV INC team will be present at Main Event in Pharr along with the team from WILD 104 to collect school supplies from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Those who drop off and donate a bag of school supplies at either Main Event in Pharr or Main Event in Brownsville, during this time, will receive a 60-minute game play card as a thank you.
The Food Bank RGV invites all community members to join in collecting school supplies for the Food Bank RGV’s School Tools program. Although both Main Event locations will serve as the main collection sites for the ‘Jam the Bus’ school supply collection drive, other Valley businesses are supporting efforts by offering special promotions and incentives to show their appreciation for those who donate at their locations on August 11, 2023. Participating businesses are:
– El Pollo Loco located at 601 W Nolana Ave, McAllen, TX : Donate a minimum of $5 worth of school supplies and receive a free ‘Pollo bowl’.
– Fazoli’s located at 1943 West Interstate 2, Pharr, TX: Donate a backpack and receive a free small pasta. Alternatively, donate 10 school supplies and receive a free dessert.
– Bubba’s 33 located at 2608 W Expy 83, McAllen, TX: From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Donate one backpack and get one – 12in pepperoni pizza, or make a $10 supply donation and get a free appetizer.
Please note that the promotional thank-you incentives will be provided at the respective donation drop-off sites. The Food Bank RGV INC’s School Tools program supports eligible elementary schools in Cameron, Hidalgo, and Willacy counties, ensuring that young students in the Valley have the supplies they need to excel in their studies.
