PHARR, Texas – The Food Bank Rgv is thrilled to announce the ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony for its brand-new onsite Resource Center, set to take place on Friday, July 28, 2023 at 10:00am. The event will be held at the Food Bank RGV’s located at 724 N. Cage Blvd. in Pharr, TX.

The Food Bank RGV Resource Center, strategically situated on the south side of the food bank, represents a significant milestone in the organization’s commitment to better serve the community’s needs. Formerly, the space was the School Tools center but this transformed space has been reimagined to provide a central hub for a variety of vital services and programs that aim to uplift and support the local community.

The Resource Center is poised to play a pivotal role in improving the quality of life for individuals and families facing food insecurity in the Rio Grande Valley. The center will house several essential services, including:

Emergency Food Pantry: A well-stocked pantry to provide immediate assistance to those at risk of hunger.

Volunteer Services: A dedicated area to recruit, train, and engage volunteers to amplify the food bank’s outreach efforts.

C.S.F.P (Senior Box Program): A dedicated monthly program specifically designed to cater to the nutritional needs of senior citizens in the area.

Social Services: A team of dedicate staff that provide application assistance for those wishing to apply for state benefits such as SNAP, TANF, Medicaid, & CHIP. The Social Services team also provides referral services to those facing additional challenges beyond hunger.

School Tools: A continuation of the pre-existing program, ensuring that Valley elementary school teachers have the necessary educational tools for their student’s academic success.

“We are excited to open the doors of our new onsite Resource Center, as it represents a tremendous step forward in our mission to create a hunger-free Rio Grande Valley,” said Libby A. Saenz, chief executive director of the Food Bank RGV. “The Resource Center will act as a beacon of hope for our community members, providing not just food but also the essential resources and services they need to thrive.”

The Food Bank RGV remains committed to its mission of fighting hunger and improving lives in the Rio Grande Valley, and the Resource Center is a tangible manifestation of this dedication. By centralizing and expanding these critical services, the organization aims to have an even greater impact on the lives of those who depend on its support.

Members of the media, community leaders, and supporters are invited to join the Food Bank RGV in celebrating this momentous occasion. The ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony will begin promptly at 10:00am on Friday, July 28, 2023 at the Food Bank RGV located at 724 N. Cage Blvd. in Pharr, TX.
