BROWNSVILLE, Texas – The Leadership Brownsville Class Xxxviii completed the Education session, where they heard insights directly from the city’s public, private, charter, and higher education leaders.
The day started at South Texas Academy for Medical Professions with a welcome by Principal Ms. Criselda Flores Rodriguez; faculty and students provided an overview of their programs and certifications. LB Class members then traveled to Saint Joseph Academy, where President Mr. Michael Motyl provided details on how they help their students succeed.
The morning ended with a presentation from Texas Southmost College at the Performance Art Center with President Dr. Jesus Roberto Rodriguez, who gave the class an insightful presentation that included the rich history and impact that TSC has had for 95 years and continues to have in our community.
The class then traveled to IDEA Riverview, where Principal Ms. Radha Guajardo and other leaders/managers welcomed the LB class and gave them a tour inviting the class members to visit their classrooms to examine their teaching methodologies closely.
The session continued with a presentation from Brownsville Independent School District led by Dr. Nellie Cantu, Deputy Superintendent of Business and Operations, providing great information that included operational costs, school safety, etc. The class then traveled to UTRGV – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley in Brownsville hosted the last presentation of the day by Dr. Janna Arney, Executive Vice and Provost, where LB class members not only learned about all the UTRGV programs, research, top rankings, financial aids, partnerships, etc. but also about the exciting future that is coming for the good of our community.
The education session ended with the leadership development session by Leadership Empowerment Group, LLC. Special thanks to United Way of Southern Cameron County for allowing the class to use their facilities for the last session.
