World Elder Abuse Awareness Day Parade

EDINBURG – The Hidalgo County Criminal District Attorney’s Office will host a World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD) drive-by Parade at 9:45 a.m. on Thursday, June 16, at First United Methodist Church located at 3707 West University Drive.

Other participating agencies and partners include the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (Adult Protective Services); Silver Ribbon Community Partners; University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Police Department; and Edinburg Police Department.

The parade will pass by adult day cares to show solidarity and support for elders in the community. 

Parade participants will gather at the church at 9 a.m. to decorate their vehicles, and are encouraged to use the color purple, recognizing Elder Abuse Awareness Month.
