McAllen, TX – The City of Mcallen held a regular election for registered voter residents of McAllen City Commission Districts 4 and 5, today, Saturday, May 4, 2019, for commissioner for each district.  Unofficial results for District 5 were pending based on review of provisional ballots by the Hidalgo County Elections Administration Office.

After the review, the unofficial final results have been updated to reflect an increase in the final tally of votes for one of the candidates.

District 4:

Califa             264 votes                   35%

Ramirez             499 votes                   65%

District 5:

Murray             110 votes                   10%

Haddad            463 votes                   41%

Total votes       1,907

Results are unofficial until they are canvassed.

Based on the results of the provisional ballots, there was not an outright winner for District 5 because no candidate received the 50%+1 required to win, the City of McAllen will hold a run-off election to determine the winner between the top two vote getters.

The date for the run-off election is set for Saturday, June 22, 2019. Canvassing has been set for right before the regularly scheduled McAllen City Commission of Monday, May 13, 2019.
