China has launched a Mobile App named “close contact detector”. This mobile application enables people to check whether they are at the risk of catching the highly dangerous coronavirus.

According to the report of Xinhua news agency, after it was released Saturday evening, users are able to scan a QR code via mobile apps such as WeChat, Alipay, or QQ to make an inquiry.

After people are registered with a phone number, they should enter their name and also ID number in order to know whether they were in close contact with infected people. Each registered phone number can be used for three ID numbers.

Those people who have been in close contact with patients are recommended to stay at home. Getting in touch with local health authorities is the next step.

The app has been developed by the General Office of the State Council, the National Health Commission and China Electronics Technology Group Corporations (CETC).

According to CETC, the mobile app has received support from several government agencies such as the Ministry of Transport, the National Health Commission, the Civil Aviation Administration of China, and China Railway in order to ensure reliable, accurate, and authoritative data.According to what the National Health Commission has said, close contact means being in contact with someone who has come in close distance, with no effective protection, with suspected cases, confirmed cases or mild cases while this person was sick or showed asymptomatic cases in these conditions.

It includes people who work in one place, live in the same house or share the same classroom; family members, medical staff or other people who have been in close contact with patients in the same environment and other patients in the same room and their caregivers. It also includes passengers and crew members who are in the same transportation facility along with patients (confirmed and suspected cases) as well as infected cases (such as asymptomatic cases and mild cases).

For example, on a flight, all passengers in the same row and a couple of rows in back and row of the case seat, in addition to the flight attendants providing cabin services in the area, are considered as being in close contact. However, other passengers would be considered as having general contact.

In a fully enclosed air-conditioned train, all the crew members and passengers being in the same compartment are considered as being in close contact.
