Warp Knitting and Textile Spare Parts – What You Need to Know?

What is warp knitting?

The process of forming loops by feeding yarn parallel to fabric selvedge, into a Knitting zone is known as Warp Knitting. Every needle is given a separate yarn that is used for forming loops and in order to connect these loops into fabrics, yarns are shifted between these needles. The yarns are knitted simultaneously.

This is a type of knitting method where yarns zigzag along the fabric length and follow the adjacent columns of knitting rather than a single row. Knitting across the width of the fabric is also called weft knitting. Warp knitting requires an equal number of separate yarn strands, also called as ends to equal the total number of stitches in a single row which is why its done by machines, rather than hands.

Advantages of warp knitting machines:

  • Warp knitting machines have a higher productivity rate compared to weaving.
  • They have large working widths and are used in a variety of fabric constructions
  • There is a low-stress rate on the yarn which allows for fibers like aramid, glass, and carbon to be used
  • Three-dimensional structures can be created and knitted on the double needle bar raschels

This makes Warp Knitting Machines one of the most sought after in the business as they can provide a large output in a short period of time.

Different types:

There are different types of warp knitting machines and these include:

Tricot Warp Knitting Machine
    • Tricot warp knitting machines – They combine great flexibility with high production speeds and are based on perfect tuning of the knitting elements and motion
Raschel Warp Knitting Machine
    • Raschel Warp knitting machines – Raschel knits are used for manufacturing flexible fabrics that are versatile and more textured
  • Raschel Lace and Curtain machines – These machines can be used to create more flexible patterns on curtains and lace material
  • Raschel Knitting Machines – These machines are reliable and durable and can be used to manufacture a wide variety of nets. They are also easier to maintain and produce knotless nets.
