Role of Vertical Multistage Pumps

Pumps are basically machines which are used to transport fluid substances from one place to another.  Their use in domestic household includes pumping water from ground or underground level reservoir to some storage at some height. Their uses in industries include moving liquid or semi-liquid substances from one machinery to other.

Vertical multistage pumps are specifically designed to pump water or any other liquid over a given vertical distance. These pumps are designed to produce maximum thrust and force. They can either be submersible pumps, which are fitted underwater or they can be fitted above water and can be connected by pipes to draw and move water.

HOW A MULTISTAGE PUMP WORKS

Multistage pumps are used where water has to be transported over large distances. This is achieved by using multiple impellers. These impellers can be mounted on the same shaft or on different shafts. The impellers are connected in series if the need of pressure is more or in parallel if the need of high output is more. The pressure increases as the flow progresses through multiple stages, thus enabling the movement of fluids over a longer distance.

Inside the pump, the water first enters a part called suction bell. From there it first enters the first stage impeller where the water velocity increases. From there it moves to the diffuser where the pressure is created. This process is then continued again and again, and hence the name multi-staged pump. There is a coupling between the wet end of the pump and the motor, called the magnetic drive. Hence this is also called magnetic drive pump.

USES OF A VERTICAL MULTISTAGE PUMP

These vertical multistage pumps work on an AC source and are ideal for water pumping, but are also used in factories in some cases to pump semi-liquid substances like oil.

These pumps are used in places where there is a constant need of pressure and flow like high-density living areas, industries having substantial wash down facilities; jack pumps for fire hydrant systems and boiler feed systems. Also, the pump eliminates the maintenance of the pump. Hence magnetic drive pump has no better substitute.

DIFFERENT VERTICAL PUMPS AND THEIR BENEFITS

TeraFlow stainless steel sheet metal pumps are designed and engineered by the A.T.E. Enterprises Private Limited (a part of the A.T.E. Group) to meet domestic and industrial pumps need. These machines are ideal for industrial reverse osmosis, water treatment and pressure boosting applications.

These machines have a steeper head-capacity curve, which gives efficient water pump and pressurised outflow. The additional benefits of using these vertical pumps are that they have smaller need of area, so can be installed in restricted surface areas. Also, they have minimal wear and tear and low maintenance costs, so are more economical in the long run.
