Family First

I’ve gotten phone calls from mine at four in the morning and taken them.  If they don’t answer, I’ll leave a message.  These moments are invaluable, and in our matter of fact business world, you have to create and/or carve out time to keep them in your life.  Sometimes you even have to fight tooth and nail to do so.  Money doesn’t grow on trees, but your family does.  If they worry about you more than they should, put a smile on your face and keep calm.  It’s good to be loved and cherished.

But remember…

Never be a victim.  Be a go-getter and a doer.  Sit up straight and smile.  Grunge is dead.  It’s never too early to get a jump-start on your day.  If you’re up at five -  don’t lay in bed.  Get up.  That incredible dream you had should spur you into action.  Don’t think about popping in your ear buds and taking a jog before the sun comes up – do it.   Getting and staying in shape is essential to a healthy family life as well as how you conduct business with the rest of humanity.  Because after you shower, shave, brush your teeth and button your shirt, you’ll know you can handle anything from literally anyone the moment you walk out your door to start your work day.

If you’re in between careers and looking to create fresh opportunities for yourself and your loved ones, dress for success while interviewing headhunters and recruiters.  It sounds silly to put on a dress shirt, dress pants, and necktie when you’re at your home office talking up your resume, but don’t do it in your bathrobe or undies.  Do yourself a favor and look professional – even when it’s not required.
