Exciting Opportunities Waiting in Australia!

It’s always hard to pick up and leave a Country or home you’ve known to relocate to a part of the world you know so little about. Thankfully there aren’t a lot of things to get used to when thinking about moving to Australia for work. The climate might be different, the people might be a little different, and the lifestyle is very different, but despite all this the opportunities more than make up for it.

There are a host of wonderful and enterprising roles to fill in Australia.

The country has a high employment rate, is absolutely beautiful from one end to the next, and is capable of luring millions of people from all over the world to find cause to work and live here on a permanent basis. Many of those that make their way to Australia don’t ever want to leave even if their stay here is temporary for work or school.

When immigrating from another country however you will need a Visa to work in Australia, and there are two different visas you can apply for.

One is a skilled immigration visa, which allows a person to with an acceptable skill set to enter the country if they are capable of passing other criteria that are mentioned below.

The other type is a nominated/sponsored work visa, which is for those that are sponsored by a recognized Australian employer, a territory or state authority, or a government agency of that state or territory. In other words, you need to have a useful skill set or a sponsor to get into the country on a work visa, which isn’t too hard consider that Australia’s labor force is in constant need of skilled and able workers.

So the requirements to work in Australia include:

  • Proficiency in the English language.
  • Your nominated occupation needs to be on the Skilled Occupation List, or SOL.
  • You need to actually possess the skills for the job you’re applying for.
  • You need to undergo a skills assessment test by a recognized Australian authority.
  • You have to meet the health and character criteria.
  • You have to meet the criteria for the visa you’re applying for.

So all in all the vetting process is fairly painless, but it helps to know what to expect in order to make your way into the country without too much trouble.
