Is Your Air Conditioning System Burning Itself Out?

Over time, we have learned just how important it is to look after the Hvac Systems both in our homes and in the office. Often forgotten, our Air Conditioning and heating systems can perform better with some simple upgrades. Today, we will be talking about a very simply upgrade, the hard start capacitor.
What Is It?
- First and foremost, we should probably address exactly what this small device is. Essentially it's an air conditioner compressor saver that mounts onto the run capacitor within a unit. With the device in place, the unit will start up with less current draw which reduces the amount of amps required at the initial startup thus saving Money and the life of your AC unit.

Benefits of a Hard Start Kit: Here are a few reasons why you should invest in this small device. Make sure to watch the video for an excellent example of the hard start capacitor in use.
Save Energy and Money - In a recent test (seen in the video above), we found that there were around 53 amps being used just to get the system going without a hard start kit. At first, this number is high because of the process we saw above but it then calms down and levels out. With a hard start kit installed, this amp usage on startup reduced by ten amps to 43. If you think about it, this is just in one single start; over a period of weeks, months, and years, this number will run into the thousands which saves energy and therefore money.
Save the Unit - Often, we neglect the health of the actual HVAC system but this affordable device will ensure it remains in place for years to come. With the lower amp level when starting up, this reduces the amount of heat seen and protects the wiring and wire insulation. Whenever there is too much heat, the insulation will slowly melt away; once the insulation is gone, the compressor will short out and this leads to thousands of dollars of repairs or even a brand new system.
Cheap and Easy to Install - With some products, they sound great on the outside but further inspection reveals a hefty price tag and an installation process that takes days. However, a hard start kit can be installed quickly and the investment is completely worthwhile considering the money you save and the extended life you give the unit.
Of course, the device should be installed by professionals because HVAC systems can be dangerous since they operate at high voltages. If you are comfortable with working with high voltage devices then the install is relatively simple.
With increased starting torque and decreased heat in the windings, you can save money and the unit all for an affordable price and minimal fuss!
