Sunita Kejriwal Faces Complaint For sharing Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal’s Court Proceedings Online

Sunita Kejriwal, the wife of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, finds herself under scrutiny after a lawyer filed a complaint against her and several others for allegedly sharing Court Proceedings of the Delhi CM, who is accused in the excise policy case, on social media.

The complaint was lodged by a lawyer who claimed that the court hearing was recorded and then circulated on various Social Media Platforms by Sunita Kejriwal and other political figures. The complainant also took the step of sending a legal notice to social media platforms to remove the video depicting court proceedings presided over by special judge Kaveri Baweja on March 28.

The individuals named in the complaint for allegedly violating the Video Conferencing Rules of October 26, 2021, include Sunita Kejriwal, as well as Akshay with the X handle name @Akshay”, Promila Gupta (councillor, Ward 11, Timarpur), Vineeta Jain (vice president of INC Rajasthan), and Arunesh Kumar Yadav with the X handle name @YadavArunesh.

The complaint asserts that members of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) were part of a “pre-planned conspiracy” to intentionally and deliberately “malign and manipulate the court proceedings” through the recording and circulation of audio and video content.

On March 28, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who also serves as the AAP national convener, was produced by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for charges related to money laundering in connection with the Delhi Excise policy scam. However, the recording of court proceedings is expressly prohibited under the ‘High Court of Delhi Rules for Video Conferencing for Courts 2021.’

The complainant specifically alleged that Promila Gupta (Councillor), a former member of the Delhi Commission for Women and ex-member of the Governing Body of SPM College, posted the video and audio recordings of the court proceedings on social media. Other AAP members allegedly followed suit by reposting, forwarding, sharing, and resharing the content.

It is noteworthy that Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal’s judicial custody was extended until April 15 after his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on March 21. Currently, he is being held in Tihar Jail. The videos and audio recordings of the AAP chief addressing the court were circulated on social media platforms with the tag ‘#MoneyTrailExposedByKejriwal’.
