On Wednesday, Rahul Gandhi formally submitted his nomination papers for the Wayanad parliamentary seat following a roadshow in Kalpetta, Wayanad. Thousands of people, including leaders and supporters of the United Democratic Front (UDF), gathered in Kalpetta to greet him. Accompanied by his sister, Priyanka Gandhi, Rahul led a roadshow from Kalpetta to Civil Station.

Rahul Gandhi reiterated his commitment to addressing Wayanad’s issues on a national and global scale. Meanwhile, Annie Raj, the CPI national leader and Left Democratic Front (LDF) candidate, also filed her nomination papers in the same constituency. The CPI, part of the ruling Left Democratic Front in Kerala, competes fiercely with the Congress, despite both being allies in the opposition INDIA bloc.

In a bid for dominance in the 2024 elections, the BJP has nominated Kerala State President K Surendran as a candidate under the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). Kerala, where the Congress maintains a strong presence, contributes 20 parliamentarians to the Lok Sabha. Voting across all 20 seats in Kerala is set for April 26, with vote counting scheduled for June 4.
