PTI Chairman Hints At Joining JUI-F’s Sit-in Against Government

Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has suggested the possibility of joining a sit-in against the government organized by the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) led by Maulana Fazalur Rehman, as reported by ARY News. During a broadcast on ARY News, Barrister Gohar stated that the Grand Opposition Alliance would initiate an anti-government protest following Eid-ul-Fitr.

“Moulana Fazlur Rehman would also be approached to join the Grand Opposition Alliance. We and the PTI are in touch and hope we will be meeting as well,” Barrister Gohar added.

The PTI chairman stated that the protest by opposition parties would focus on bolstering the parliament and addressing allegations of mandate ‘theft’.

“We want no mandate to be stolen in future also,” Barrister Gohar said.

The PTI chairman stated that the leadership of the Grand Opposition Alliance has not yet been determined. He emphasized that consultation with all parties would precede the selection of the alliance’s chairman.
“It is our legal right to hold peaceful protest,” he said.

Barrister Gohar claimed that Imran Khan would be released by the end of April 2024, asserting that all accusations against the PTI founder stemmed from “political victimization.” Earlier on Tuesday, the Grand Opposition Alliance, comprised of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and other major opposition parties, announced an anti-government protest to commence after Eid-ul-Fitr, as reported by ARY News.

The first joint public meeting of the recently formed opposition alliance, which also includes the Sunni Ittehad Council, Majlis-e-Wadhat-e-Muslimeen (MWM), Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP), and Balochistan National Party (BNP), is scheduled to take place in Quetta on April 14.
