Tunisha Sharma Suicide: Mystery or Mental Health Neglect?

In the past few years, where failed love story related suicides were linked to Love Jihad or rather any other narrative which in short is the delineation of beating around the bush, but didn’t address issues like Mental Health is quite alarming, to say the least.

Who is Tunisha Sharma?

Tunisha Sharma, 20, was a television actress, who started off her career with Chand Kanwar in Maharana Pratap on Sony Entertainment Television. She later appeared in Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat on Colors TV as Rajkumari Ahankara. In Fitoor in 2016, she made her acting debut as Young Firdaus. She portrayed Young Dia in Baar Baar Dekho and Mini in Kahaani 2: Durga Rani Singh in the same year.

Sharma portrayed Mehtab Kaur in the 2017 motion picture Sher-e-Punjab: Maharaja Ranjit Singh. She portrayed Aadhya Verma in Colors TV’s Internet Wala Love from 2018 to 2019.

She had an appearance as Zara/Babli in Ishq Subhan Allah on Zee TV in 2019. She appeared as ASP Aditi in season 2 of Hero – Gayab Mode On on SAB TV in 2021. Sheezan Mohammed Khan costarred in the Sony SAB production Ali Baba: Dastaan-E-Kabul in 2022.

The Probe so far?

Initial reports said that Tunisha committed suicide in Naigaon as she was working on the sets in the makeup area. She was taken to the hospital in a hurry, where medical staff pronounced her dead.

The Waliv police arrived at the show’s sets shortly after to do more research. She was reportedly in Sheezan Mohammed Khan’s makeup area at the time the assault occurred.

After his shooting, Sheezan went back and discovered the room was locked. Tunisha was repeatedly asked to open the door, but she refused. When she was discovered hanging in his makeup area, the door was eventually forced open. Despite being brought to the hospital, the actress was not able to be rescued.

Simran Budharup, an actress well known for her work on the Pandya Store, revealed to us recently that Tunisha struggled with anxiety and melancholy. She also mentioned that not everything in her family life was perfect.

Sheezan Khan, a co-star in the movie Ali Baba, has been accused of being responsible for Tunisha’s murder by her mother. They allegedly had a romance before it ended, it is also claimed. This is what allegedly caused her to commit suicide.

Speaking to the media, DCP Chandrakant Jadhav provided updates on the case. Cast and crew who were present on the sets have so far been questioned by the police.

Given that she shared a home with Tunisha, her mother was also nicknamed. According to the DCP, the actress’s mother accused Sheezan Khan, the actor who played her in Ali Baba, in her statement and said that he should be prosecuted for aiding suicide. According to rumours, Sheezan and Tunisha were dating.

According to Waliv Police, Tunisha’s death will be looked at from both a murderous and a suicidal perspective.

No suicide note has been found at the location.

Sheezan Mohammad Khan, a co-star in Tunisha, was detained by police on suspicion of violating Indian Penal Code Section 306 (abetting suicide) (IPC). He’ll be brought in front of the Vasai court.

The family of Tunisha Sharma, a 20-year-old television star who is believed to have committed suicide, questioned Sheezan Khan’s statement that their breakup was due to religious differences today. If he was worried about that, Pawan Sharma asked, “then why did he do all this?” He also raised the possibility of a breakup. “If so, why did they continue eating lunch together daily? They alone, in a room? What was going on there? Why were you spending time with her if the relationship had ended? “he asked.

Is Mental Health an angle here?

The question of failing mental health cannot be completely thrown out of the window, as reports and her friends claim everything with her family wasn’t perfect, and allegedly she recently had a breakup with co-star Sheezan Khan.

As stated by Sheezan Khan that they broke up on the pretext of their varying age gap and difference in their religion, he also added that he broke up after the gruesome murder of Shraddha Walkar.

A few days before her passing, Tunisha attempted suicide. At that time, Sheezan reportedly said, “I saved her and instructed Tunisha’s mother to take particular care of her.”

Sheezan and Tunisha split up a fortnight before she was discovered dead on December 24 on the set of a TV production.

In relation to Tunisha Sharma’s alleged suicide, a Vasai, Maharashtra, court on Sunday incarcerated actor Sheezan Khan for four days.

Khan was brought before the court by Waliv police following his detention in a suicide aid case. In accordance with Section 306 of the Indian Penal Code, the case was filed against him.

So the question again arises, who has to be held accountable here, if Khan has to be believed, Tunisha had allegedly attempted suicide before which was sabotaged by the former. If her mother was aware of her failing mental health why didn’t she seek professional help?

Is asking for professional help that big of a taboo? We at NewsX believe everyone deserves proper health care and mental health should be given priority.
