Tamil Nadu reports 927 new cases including five domestic and foreign returnees

 New coronavirus cases in Tamil Nadu increased to 927, including five domestic and foreign returnees, raising the total to 35,55,538, the health department reported on Wednesday. With no fatalities, the state’s death toll remained constant at 38,033.

According to the medical bulletin, around 1,252 people got discharged in the last 24 hours, aggregating to 35,08,919 leaving 8,586 active infections.

Chennai accounted for the majority of new cases with 186 people while the rest was spread across other districts.

Director of Public Health and Preventive Medicine T S Selvavinayagam along with a host of senior officials audited the people who are staying in the Temporary Relief Camps set up by the health department on the Cauvery river banks in Thanjavur, Mayiladuthurai and Cuddalore districts.

An official stated that residents in low-lying areas have been relocated to temporary Relief Camps as a result of major rivers in Tamil Nadu, including the Cauvery, Bhavani, Vaigai, and Thamirabharani, being in spate as a result of the severe rains.
