Carved edges – sometimes with small nice touch – and large flowers with tremendous lip –mesmerizing colors- these are some of the features what make Cattleya one of the most perceptible orchids. Cattleya is a different houseplant with a psuedobulb on which there are just a couple of thick leaves. The small flowered species have more flowers per stem than the large flowered as there are small and large flowers. The dimensions of the flowers are usually ten to twenty centimeters in diameter, and with a variety of colors from white through yellow, orange, green, pink, purple to mind blowing pastels. Cattleya being a tropical orchid only occurs in South and Central America. Some are beautifully perfumed, which has earned Cattleya the nickname ‘Queen of the Orchids’. It’s an epiphyte, which means that it lives on trees and bark without drawing nutrients from them. Cattleya has the most varied appearance from all the orchids.
