If you don’t own your presence online, what is happening over at Twitter can happen to you. You’re site can be taken down without any warning and you’re pretty much SOL.

Mastodon and the Fediverse as a whole is great this way. Even if you don’t own the instance, you can move your followers to a new instance and even a new type of Fediverse platform.

I see journalists whining about having their Twitter profiles suspended and I can’t help but think to myself, who cares. Move on. Twitter isn’t what it used to be and will never be the same.

I also see people complaining about how Mastodon, and the Fediverse in general, is hard? It’s not much harder than Twitter and many people forget how confusing Twitter was back in 2007. It’s just old and we’re used to it.
