Digital Marketing Techniques In 2020

The world of digital Marketing is an ever changing world and to make sure your online business is as successful as it can be, you need to be on top of the latest digital marketing trends to keep you the leader of the pack, as you can be sure that your fierce competitors are doing the exact same thing!  That being said, some digital marketing techniques stay the same and it’s important that you implement these into your online strategy along with any new trends.

Implementing a digital marketing strategy can be a daunting task for a small business with a small team and maybe a limited budget, however you can enlist the help of an SEO marketing agency that can do all the hard work for you and work alongside you to create the best online presence you can achieve, leaving you to continue running your business as intended.

Here are some of the digital marketing techniques in 2020 which are set to grow over the years, implementing these before your competitors will set you apart from the rest.

Artificial Intelligence

Whilst this may still seem some way off, Artificial Intelligence is already growing in many aspects of a business taking over jobs normally assigned to humans. For example, take Microsoft and Uber who are using security robots to patrol their parking lots, looking out for any suspicious activity, recording number plates and reporting back to owners.

“The robots don’t fight back against humans. But using equipment like lasers, a thermal camera, and GPS, the machines can detect a variety of sounds — cars honking, glass breaking, and people screaming — and scan up to 300 license plates per minute. When the K5 senses criminal activity, it alerts human authorities (usually Knightscope or the customer).

Using AI in your marketing strategy can vary, but how it can help is it can analyse search patterns and consumer behaviour using data from social media and blog posts helping businesses understand how their consumers find their services.

Conversational Marketing

Consumers have evolved in their expectations from a company, gone are the days when a consumer types a question and doesn’t expect to have a reply for 48hrs (for example), consumers want the answer to their question instantly and at their preferred time (in lots of cases out of office hours).  To enable you to answer you consumer’s queries instantly, this is where chatbots come into play.  ChatBots make 24hrs / 7 days a week support possible by providing an answer  to common questions based on data which already exists.  It’s worth noting at this point that they shouldn’t replace human contact altogether but instead to help answer frequently asked questions.

Conversations need to have context, every conversation that is had is stored to gather information and provide more value to the consumer.  There are many ways in which businesses are using conversational marketing to their advantage and a good example is HelloFresh, a subscription meal service.  HelloFresh launched Freddie Freshbot 2017 where customers can chat to Freddie through Facebook Messenger, providing customer service, recipe ideas along with meal reminders ensuring customers feel satisfied with the service and renewing their subscription.

Video Marketing

Video marketing is nothing new, but it’s bigger than ever and is set to continue to grow over the years making it probably the most important marketing technique to date.  Taking data from 2019, 70% of consumers state they have shared a brands video with 72% of businesses saying video has improved their conversion rates and 52% of consumers saying that by watching a brands video makes them more confident in purchasing their product online, it’s hard to see this slowing down anytime soon.

There are many outlets you can use for video marketing, YouTube is the most obvious choice, but you now also have Facebook and Instagram stories, you can livestream, the amount of possibilities with this outlet is endless.

“Statistics show if your site includes video, it’s 50X more likely to drive organic search results compared to text. Why? Because people find video content more compelling, so Google pushes pages that include videos higher in the rankings.” – Singlegrain

With stats like that it would be crazy to ignore video marketing in any marketing strategy! But don’t forget to optimise your videos too, with videos showing in SERPs this is an important step to implement at the beginning.
