Elliott Landing takes Shape- Beverly condo complex at Cummings Center is 25% sold, owners say

BEVERLY -- Though Elliott Landing is still very much a construction site, by fall the moving trucks will be pulling up and residents will begin a new era of their lives there.
Located on the campus of the Cummings Center office park, the six-story complex will have 73 condominiums, with from one to three bedrooms, some with a den. Prices range from $360,000 to $650,000.
Already roughly 25 percent of the condos are under purchase agreements, though just the bare bones of the new residences have gone up.
It might be hard for buyers to envision what the homes will look like when complete, other than getting a look through one of the windows to busy Elliott Street and downtown Beverly, or out to the Bass River.
The basics of the building have gone up — hallways are outlined and rooms delineated, but sheet rock and walls have not been put in yet.
“Going into just your steel or concrete construction can be overwhelming for people, and this helps to give you a sense of home,” said Liz Speranzella, vice president of marketing and sales for Streamline Communities, which is marketing the properties.
But walking into the Elliott Landing Sales and Design Center offers a different atmosphere.
A mock kitchen with counter tops and cabinets show what finishes buyers can choose for their condominiums. Buyers have the options of choosing many other features as well, from fireplace finishes to appliances.
The building also has a variety of ways to enjoy the outdoors. Many of the units feature balconies or patios. There’s also access to courtyards, according to design plans.
“On the northwest side we have the outdoor space for everybody to use,” Speranzella said. It will include seating, a fireplace and grilling stations. It will also have an area to walk dogs; the community is pet friendly.
To some, it may seem like an unusual spot for housing, particularly high-end housing. It’s located on the campus of a busy office park, across the street from a supermarket and a McDonald’s. But the condos have attracted buyers from both inside and outside of Beverly, including Swampscott and Middleton, Speranzella said.
Stephanie and Eugene MacGregor, a Beverly couple who are empty-nesters, are among them. They chose a two-bedroom unit with views of a courtyard and its own patio.
They like being where the action is, they said, and being on Elliott Street near downtown is a good fit for them.
Eugene enjoys time at the Beverly Golf and Tennis Club, which is nearby. The couple said they also have doctors within the Cummings Center complex. And the MacGregors wanted to stay in Beverly because of what the city offers — restaurants they enjoy, live music at the Cabot Theatre, access to the highway and an easy trip into Boston, among other features.
