Southern Daughters/Northern Mothers

Tags: mother changed

Just like daughters of South
too soon I became a Mother in North
North and South can relate to each other
I'm feeling my sisters in Asia, Latin America and Africa
teen age mothers and queens

Education and career have been paused
instead we gotta be changing diapers and cleaning the house
the pencils and books have been Changed to a swab
Philosophy has been changed to housekeeping
You can taste poverty in the soup of the domestic chef
You forget about the potential riches and rock

Suddenly life is a compromise
she was supposed to become a researcher or a beauty queen
The elevator is dropping to the lower floors of society
life isn't a dream after all
when your own expectations differ from the ones the society has for you
it's strange to become a sum of somebody else's choices

an extension of somebody else, a product on the line
a puppet prone to influence
a beautiful face, a smile without a spirit made of porcelain
a dress made of poplin
she is well seen but not heard
that creative unique world renowned force

Even today the glass ceiling remains to be unbroken
some brave woman somewhere on the mission to scatter it becomes scattered herself
as the door carpet of a patriarch
an honorable man uses his honor to respect the woman
because the economy of the state suffers because of uneducated women
unless the dam of equality shan't be released
The decision makers are the hook
education is the fish
When will be the trap of ignorance released
and we will start growing the harvest of knowledge?
When are we hearing praise on the fields?
