I got this tip from my dad. Inorder to not Accidentally Scratch your car while you are washing it, here are a few pointers to follow.

1. First wash it with water while wiping away dirt with your HANDS. The reason why you want to use your hands instead of using a foam or a towel is sometimes dirt or small stones gets trapped in the foam or towel and while you are wiping your car, it will scratch it further. So by washing it with water and your hands first, you are trying to remove dirt and small particles that might accidentally scratch your car.

2. After this you can now go ahead and wash your car using a foam or a piece of cloth with car soap.
