chapter twenty seven

i am so sad. i even flipped through the rest of the book looking at all Dumbledore references to see if it was some trick. at least i now know the truth about snape. i'm really surprised that rowlings did this. some people say this had to happen because Harry is destined to be the new Dumbledore. i think it was cruel to her readers.

what makes no sense is that there weren't a lot of other wizards involved. where was hermione, ron, ginny, professor mcgonalgol, tonks, the order of the phoneix. wouldn't they have seen the dark mark? plus Harry specifically gave them the lucky potion because he thought something bad would happen. why wouldn't they take it?

and the fact that Snape just does it too. there's no long talk, there's no confession or revelation. i guess i'm glad that at least it wasn't Malfoy. it will be interesting to see what role he plays in subsequent books.

and the sound of Dumbledore's voice. Rowlings described it as pleading. it's really ironic, or is disturbing the better word, that the one person Dumbledore wanted to help him kills him.

i also don't get why Dumbledore immobilized Harry. Harry could have easily cursed Malfoy. he'd done it before. i imagine he thought he could control the situation and didn't want Harry to be involved.

i am so sad.
