MY THOUGHTS:
BUDDY READ with Chesca. For the namesake, you can call it. But the truth is, we didn't. We both never had time to catch up on the reading. She was way too far from me to cope up. But I managed to do it. YAY! Still we talked A LOT. LOL! And I came to a realization, I suck at buddy reading. FYI, this is my second reading with a buddy.
Anyways, you people know how I struggle to read a classic. Before entering the reading world, this was the first Book which I bought. And started reading it immediately, but then I was like,"Well, screw me for buying this." I couldn't understand a single thing. But after a LOOOOONG time, I gave it another chance. And I'm glad I gave it a shot.
And this is my re-read. Boy oh boy, how I enjoyed and devoured it. A short summary can be understood by the first simple sentence.
"It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife."
But the book doesn't completely focus on itself alone. It's about making your own decision about your life. Someone couldn't just push you. The way Lizzy stood until the end when Mr.Collins made a marriage proposal. Seriously, I was downright irritated when Mr.Collins pestered her. Can a woman couldn't reject you at the first time? *rolling the eyes* And Mrs.Bennet annoyed me by pushing Lizzy to accept his proposal.
But Mr.Bennet was perfect when he said,"Your mother will never see you again if you do not marry Mr.Collins... and I will never see you again if you do."
He will make me laugh out loud by his comments.
Lizzy, an independent woman. I Love her attitude so much. Especially how she managed to shut the nonsense of Lady Catherine de Bourgh. And the bond she is having with her sister Jane was so precious. I loved it so much. The truth is the word Jane came from her mouth more than Mr. Darcy. I don't care about other sisters.
“I could easily forgive his pride, if he had not mortified mine.”
Mr. Darcy *a pleasant dreamy sigh* Do I need to talk about him? I don't know how to form words to explain my adoration of him. He maybe seems like an arrogant pompous man who loves no one but himself. But he is NOT. The love he has for his sister and the concern towards his friend and especially his affection towards Lizzy. Man! He is the best. I needed more chapters about him. Maybe a book, with his perspective? Is that too much to ask? And he likes when a woman extended her mind through reading. And HIS LIBRARY in Pemberley. I love when he was embarrassed. I liked those little awkward moments as well as the arguments between him and Lizzy.
That moment when he said," She is tolerable; but not handsome enough to tempt me." I was laughing so hard.
He made my heart melt when he said,"But your family owe me nothing. Much as I respect them, I believe, I thought only of you."
I respected him when he said,"My affections and wishes are unchanged, but one word from you will silence me on this subject forever."
And he stole my heart when he proposed,"You must allow me to tell you how ardently I admire and love you."
I can fangirl over him all the day. He is a precious gem that was invented years ago. Jane Austen nailed it long days ago.
