The latest Harry Potter book will officially be released in the United States on June 31st 2016. You can mark this momentous occasion at your local Barnes & Noble, who have recently announced that they will hold a series of events leading up to midnight parties to celebrate the release!
Beloved franchise
Ever since the first Harry Potter book was released, the franchise has captured the hearts of readers both young and old across the world. Figures quoted by the Telegraph indicate that Harry Potter is one of the most successful book franchises ever, with over 450 million copies sold worldwide.
Harry Potter author J.K Rowling will release the next instalment in the series, called Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, as a two part stage play. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Parts One and Two will open on 30th July 2016 at the Palace Theatre in London. However, the two-part production recently opened for previews and according to the Guardian, it has won rave reviews from audiences.
But if you can’t make it to London to see the play, you don’t have to miss out on the next thrilling instalment of the boy wizard’s life. A book version of the play, titled Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Parts One and Two will be rolled-out worldwide, with the US launch scheduled for July 31st.
Harry’s world
Publishing portal Good Reader writes that Barnes & Noble will throw midnight parties across America to celebrate the arrival the new Harry Potter book. The celebrations will start before the parties however, with Barnes & Nobel holding Harry Potter-themed events from 7pm on 24th June.
There will be something for everyone at the events. Special colouring stations will be available for you and your family to shade-in various Harry Potter-themed pictures such as the four house crests of Hogwarts. You’ll also be able to take part in a Harry Potter-esque trivia event and buy a range of items inspired by the boy wizard, from bookmarks to vintage posters and more!
Excitement builds as you will also be able to enjoy a number of Harry Potter-themed snacks. These include Passion Potion Iced Tea, which is a shaken blend featuring brewed passion tea, raspberry and vanilla flavours and Chocolate Witchout Cupcakes, courtesy of the Cheesecake Factory Bakery! You’ll also be able to send special ‘owl post’ postcards, which are exclusively available at Barnes & Noble, to get your friends and family to help you countdown to the release of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Parts One and Two
Midnight parties
These events will lead up to Barnes & Nobles’ countdown to midnight parties, which start from 8pm on July 30th and run up to the midnight release! Wizards and What Not writes that during these parties, each store will give away two copies of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Parts One and Two, with the winners being chosen at midnight. If you don’t win one of these competitions, you can still pick up your copy from Barnes & Noble at midnight and start reading it on July 31st.
Deciding to throw these parties was a stroke of genius for Barnes & Noble. The original Harry Potter releases became famous for attracting large ques of fans waiting for the book to hit the shelves at midnight.
