Paper Towns: Movie Review.

It isn’t typical of me to write Movie reviews mostly because I’m too poor to see many new movies, but I was able to see the movie Paper Towns recently and let me tell you folks, I am capital P Pissed off. Why does the film industry even make movies based off books if they’re going to change anything about it that made it special? I have seen this happen to book plots time and time again it always hurts a bit more. Sure, I’m sure sometimes the directors take parts out to save on production costs or time but I’m pretty sure some of it is just laziness.

(For this next part, don’t read if you don’t want any spoilers.)

I think what upset me the most about the film adaptation was how Quentin found Margo. It wasn’t like in the book where he surprises her in an old abandon house while she is writing. No! He just blatantly spots her on the street! How’s that for cinematography.

There are other huge aspects of the book that are also changed, such as the actual list of things him and Margo do together or looking through old subdivisions in Orlando. These are important parts that are being left out at the cost of the readers’ health! I’m just absolutely up in arms about this poor creation of a wonderfully crafted story. Here’s a hint to directors, if the book is a bestseller then chances are, not that much needs to be changed about it. In fact, this movie was so much to my distaste that I think I will refrain from seeing movies for a while. (Again, mostly because I’m too poor, though.)
