The Relentless Weekly Wrap-Up 07/05/2015

Blogging:
Want to see how my June shaped up? Here's my monthly wrap-up. (Hint: it was a good one.)

Reading:
I'm trying to make time for The Oregon Trail but holiday weekends are busy!

Celebrating:
Since I last updated we've celebrated Father's Day (kickball and beer!), our son Carter's 17th birthday (pizza and cake!), and the 4th of July (baseball and fireworks, 'Murica!). Carter was in the Musky Fest parade here in our small town and our daughter Avery attended her first Pride parade in the big city of Minneapolis.  It's been a busy, but excellent, summer so far.

Watching:
It's Big Brother time again! I'm obsessed and deeply ashamed at the same time. Ha!

Cooking:
I made this seafood pasta for the first time this week. Anyone have a trick for making tender scallops? Everything else about this was delicious but the scallops were pretty chewy. (I don't think I seared them well enough?) Any tips are welcome!

Promoting:
We're talking about unconventional American history books over at The Socratic Salon. It's a lively discussion, as always!

Yay! Booze!
One Last Thing:
My sister, my dad, and their respective families were all here yesterday to celebrate Independence Day. I made pink starburst cocktails. (I made an alcohol free version for the youngsters.) They were a big crowd pleaser. I highly recommend that you whip up a few at your next gathering. Yum.

I hope you've all had a great week! What are you reading? Cooking? Celebrating?
