Gail L. Black’s Personal Experiences Revealed in New Memoir

WESTFIELD, N.Y. (PRWEB) July 19, 2013 - "Asses and Angels: A Journey from Abuse to Achievement" (published by iUniverse) is the life story of Gail L. Black, a successful businesswoman who learned not only how to survive an abusive past, but to thrive in its wake.

Black, who produces much-lauded homemade fruit syrups on her working farm, has converted her tasty expertise into a flourishing business. Black’s farm and agri-tourism gift shop are nestled between a grape vineyard and the cliff edge of Lake Erie, located along the national scenic highway known as the Seaway Trail. It is to this picturesque setting that Black transports her readers before diving headlong into a tumultuous past.

An excerpt from the book "Asses and Angels":

"The scream I let out was piercing; it sliced the quiet, peaceful, liquor-induced, sleepy darkness into lightning bolts of wakeful reality. I was cold and wet with sweat. My eyes hurt from bulging open to search for reality, sanity and an escape from the terror of the nightmare."

An emotional account of surviving abuse, "Asses and Angels" is a compelling read.

"My book is an honest disclosure of suffering, pain, and challenge, and the strength and wisdom to overcome," explains Black. "It is interspersed with humor and makes the reader feel many emotions as they connect with my experiences in life in a gripping and graphic accounting of those struggles."
