A Trip

Co-written with Jamiu Ahmed Adewale Alade

The walk of life begins from infant at dawn,
Life blossom anew with the rise of the sun,
To carve the fate, destiny of a river journey.
Cock-a-doodle-doo; when the cock crows;
The pelagic whalers ignite their hunting ship.

Stowage filled with sacks of flour
To bake the cake of mental transition
Like shooting stars the very lights burst out
To escape the red eye of the storm
Like lightning they are dancing far away
Puzzled by the images
In empty laughter
The bellies of the crew grumble in denial
They ate the colors of the flag
On Independence Day of the Damned
Exhaling the cloying steam of callousness
Anchored in the land of spirit realm

The day cloaks an enslavery sun; burning ice
Like snowflakes melting in the wild fire of time
To form waters flowing into the ocean of life
Sailing through the roaring fury of the storms
The turbulence of time persist with the wind
The sea hurled itself in thundering rage against the rocks
The sinking wave clasped and engulfed the ship
As ghosts eyes met at davy Jones locker;
combing deep for the whales that spit inferno like the red dragons
Chasing shadows of an endless darkness of the seabed

They are in limbo for six hundred days
On the desert of the ocean
Until the ferryman of the underworld
Fetches them across the trance
Cheating on the guards like sea serpents
Underneath the gloomy waters
Their Northern graveyard upside down
The bed of stone in the bowels of the pike
Where they get washed by burning whirlpool of edges
Going through the everlasting fight of dirty souls
On the coast of the bodies
To be purified for the final destination
