So many people get rid of Christmas things right after the day.

But hello, the season is 12 days long. And it doesn’t even START until Christmas. So let’s just keep with the festivity, shall we?

Before we get started, I’m just dying to tell you-

STORYTIME. All my life, I’ve had this little “accent”, so everyone thinks I’m from somewhere else. Um, no. I was born 45 minutes from where I live now, and neither of my parents have an accent or anything. We are about as American and white (sorry, stating the facts here) as you get. And I’m blonde, too, so there you go. Anyhoo, some people have told me that they don’t really hear it anymore, and that it’s mostly gone. I haven’t gotten comments on it in probably a year or so. Well… Today at the grocery store, I was just talking to my dad, and this lady just asks me where I’m from.

Me: Um… Here? Nowhere?

Lady: Oh.

She then proceeded to tell me to stay away from the boys, told me I had to go to college and get my degree, and said that if any boys weren’t good, I should just kick them out. And then asked me if I’d seen the TV show called Next (I hadn’t) and it was all just very interesting and hilarious.

Thanks, random grocery store lady, for being so invested in me because I don’t have an accent and I’m not from anywhere special.

I feel like Jimmy Fallon with his thank yous. That was virtually pointless. Ah, well, it’s typed written in WordPress stone, so let’s just move on, shall we?

I GOT BOOKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yesterday was (obviously) Christmas, and since I put a gazillion books on my list, my parents got me some! Four, to be exact. *squeal* Hence, a mini Book haul. The first three are actually the three in the main image for this post.

Enter Title Here by Rahul Kanakia- This book looks amazing. The main character, Reshma, is basically perfect. To put the cherry on top, she needs to land herself a literary agent. But since her life is so “boring”, she has to spruce it up by doing “normal, protagonistic-y” things. Genius. My mom and I were at Barnes and Noble when I pointed this one out and squealed all over it… Evidently, she must have bought it when I wasn’t looking.

Into White by Randi Pink- Okay, this book looks super good too. I’m probably going to say that about all of these. LaToya is a black teenager attending a mostly white high school. She’s so low on the social ladder than even other black kids disrespect her. The only person that really believes in her is her brother. And then… She prays to be white. And someone answers. HOW. COOL. IS. THAT.

Girl in the Blue Coat by Monica Hesse- I don’t read much historical fiction, as a lot of the time I feel it is dusty and slow, but when done well, I can love it more than my favorite genres. In Amsterdam 1943, Hanneke makes a living out of finding and delivering black market items. She keeps her work a secret from her parents, and all the while she is constantly mourning her boyfriend, who was killed on the Dutch front lines. She is making a routine delivery when someone makes an unorthodox request- not to find something, but to find someone. I’ve heard a lot of people talking about this, and I can’t wait to start!

The Season by Jonah Lisa Dyer and Stephen Dyer- (picture also on Instagram) This just looks so cute. She’s a soccer star (definitely NOT a girly girl), but her mother has secretly entered her in the 2016 Dallas debutante season. She’s put on probation, and she only has a month to figure out how to be a proper lady. CUUUUUUUTE.

As I mentioned a couple days ago, I’m participating in a few days of the “Top 16 of 2016” challenge. Yesterday’s topic was Books I Wish I’d Made Time to Read This Year, and as you can see above, today’s is…

Favorite Book Covers of 2016

Of course, all of these four books are absolutely gorgeous. So I had to include them.

Sigh. How aesthetic.

Why are the colors so incredibly similar on those two rows?

Looking at these books makes me feel so happy. Until I remember that I haven’t read a ton of them. And then it makes me angry at myself. And excited about all of these books.

Alright, that concludes today’s post on (some) of my favorite Book Covers of 2016. Hope you enjoyed!

Did you get any books for Christmas? What was your favorite present? Have you read any of the books mentioned in this post? Plan to? Thoughts? Did you participate in this topic for today? What are some of your favorite book covers of 2016? All time? Let me know down in the comments below, I’d love to hear from you!

Lots of Love, Amy❤
