Perspective

It doesn't take much in life to give us Perspective. Sometimes it's a simple encounter with someone that causes us to pause, or a tragic event we hear about, or a light we receive in prayer. Perspective after all is a point of view and shapes how we look at life.

I had a recent experience getting to spend time with old friends, some of whom I hadn't seen in a decade. It was moving to me, not Simply because we shared such beautiful and inspiring conversations and time together, but because of the people themselves--the gift of their lives in mine--that without a certain shared experience we would never have known one another in this life.

Sometimes it makes me think about what our eternity will be like because of the people we knew here on this earth. Surely those friendships are deeper in heaven than they are on earth with the people we have a personal relationship with here? Those who prayed for us, laughed with us, walked beside us--share a bond now, how much more then? From my perspective, we touch other people's lives whether we realize it or not. There's a tremendous hidden power in that, in simply connecting--in looking someone in the eyes and reaching into the window of their souls.

If you look at it right, everything then suddenly seems to have tremendous meaning.
