Of course, quite a few people think this death matters. But from what I've been writing here, it won't. I'm guessing there might be a lull, but for the most part the seeds are there for ISIS2 or something worse in that area. We'll have to see as the great powers fumble around like the oil addicts they are (and, again, the elites everywhere are complicit in all this). Someone will replace him and will be worse (perhaps smart enough not to hold ground against those who have air superiority against you).
Remember 40 protesters (in addition to 100) were killed in Iraq. This is mainly Shia against corruption, but there is little good to hold on to in this region right now.
Nothing in the the way the great powers have acted makes me think we're looking at anything but a lull coming up (if that). And, of course, there's the conspiracy (and not entirely invalid) theory that Baghdadi was "on ice" much like OBL was (and Hersh has some good work on that).
