The Miskatonic Repository

On the 12th of this month, Chaosium announced on their blog the forthcoming Miskatonic Repository, basically doing what D&D and TORG and other roleplaying games are doing: opening the door to user-created content.

Through the Miskatonic Repository, it will be possible to create and distribute Call of Cthulhu material on DriveThruRPG…

Here’s how it works – you create content, format it to our design template, and then upload the PDF to the site. Your work becomes part of the Miskatonic Repository content on DriveThruRPG – able to be accessed by the community and, optionally, providing a financial return to you.

Meaning it will be possible to distribute these contents as pay what you want, or for free, or for a fixed price.

Which is great news, because if you happened to see the preview booklet for AMARNA, you might remember I was planning on a roleplaying spin-off of the serial. And Chaosium’s announcement comes exactly at the right time, considering how the whole AMARNA set-up fits perfectly the Call of Cthulhu and the Pulp Cthulhu mood and style in particular.

So, it’s sort-of official: there will be a gaming spin-off for my serial, one that I will distribute through the Miskatonic Repository as soon as the repository itself opens up for business.

Right now, the plan is for a short-and-sweet sourcebook (less than 50 pages) and six adventures, following the plot of the first season of the serial. I am already working out the details with my brother, the other half of the Mana Brothers roleplaying creative team.
Needless to say, my Patreon supporters will get a preview, and my long-suffering team will get to playtest the whole shebang.

And yes, AMARNA is getting bigger by the day.
But I’ve a lot of faith in this project, and I’ll work to make sure every facet of the project succeeds.
