Relentless Weekly – June 26 2020

Maybe this will be a series. Maybe not? I do know that I enjoyed writing a weekly wrap-up in the days of yore, and it always feels good to share what I’ve been up to.

Cooking: We’ve been using Home Chef for quite a while now, and we’re rarely disappointed. We’re saving money, we never have food waste, and we’re able to try new stuff. Win! I’ve been baking like everyone else – Banana bread, cookies, brownies, and my grandma’s date pinwheel recipe. They didn’t come close to hers, but I’ll keep on tweaking them until I get it right!

Who doesn’t love them some Olivia Colman?

Watching: I’m re-watching The Office while I listen to The Office Ladies podcast. It’s so much fun to Hear the behind the scenes stories. Other than that it’s been British series mostly: Doctor Foster with Suranne Jones, Flowers with Olivia Colman, and a new cooking show called Crazy Delicious.

Isolating: What a time, eh? We’re staying home as much as possible, and wearing masks when we have to be in public. We felt unlucky in the beginning as my husband had to keep working (UPS), but then we felt lucky as we realized that he was able to keep working. This is going to be a long haul, and it’s strange to adjust to a new normal. I’m gutted for the families that have been upended by Covid-19. I’m fairly disgusted by the attitude of some who think this is a hoax or some kind of infringement on their personal rights. Ridiculous. For those of you out there doing the right thing, KEEP IT UP.

Reading: I’ve recently listened to The Good Neighbor: The Life and Work of Fred Rogers by Maxwell King (Read by LeVar Burton!) It was lovely, heartwarming, and made me tear up more than once. Prior to that I listened to So You Want to Talk About Race by Ijeoma Oluo. It’s an essential book that you (everyone) should be reading. I’m currently reading A Burning by Megha Majumdr, a gorgeous debut that I’m thoroughly enjoying. I have a number of books coming to me that have been back ordered for weeks. I’ll update about those beauties when they arrive.

I’d love to hear what you’re reading and watching! Are you cooking something amazing? How is isolation going for you and your families? Let me know in the comments, I can’t wait to hear from you.
