Kadine Cooper, Executive Coach and Job Search Advisor

My name is Avil Beckford and I'm the host of The One Problem podcast. There are tons of problems in the world, but I don't want you to worry because we're tackling them one problem at a time. As has been the case, I have some prior relationship with most of the guests who come on this podcast. And that's the case today. Someone introduced me to our guest today, Kadine Cooper. She wears multiple hats. She's an executive coach, job search advisor, networking strategist, speaker, and facilitator. Over to you, Kadine.

Thank you so much, Avil, for having me on your podcast. I'm so honored and privileged to share today. The problem that I have encountered over many years and the problem that I'm still seeing today, is that we as women have our wings. But we're still operating and thinking like we're caterpillars. Here's how you, as women, can start opening your wings, spreading your wings, and unleashing your inner butterfly. The first step is to go on your own personal self-discovery. I want you to embrace self-discovery.

Take the time to really explore what your passions are, what your values are, what truly matters to you. It's never your own unique gifts and your talents and let them guide you to a more fulfilling life. The other thing is to shift your mindset. Say goodbye to limiting beliefs, the imposter syndromes, those beliefs that keep you confined to that caterpillar way of thinking. And embrace a growth mindset, believing in your potential and how you have what it takes to achieve greatness. And then I want you to surround yourself with positive, empowering souls, people that want to champion you, cheerlead you and see you win.

The One Problem with Kadine Cooper

Connect with like-minded women who inspire and uplift you. And are there to build a supportive network that encourages your growth as well, and will also push you to new heights. And then change. We have all come through a lot of significant change in the last little while. Change is inevitable, but we have to learn how to adapt. Just like a butterfly gracefully adapts to different environments, we have to be open to that change as well and to embrace opportunities for growth.

So step outside of our comfort zone, get comfortable being uncomfortable, and watch ourselves flourish. And then take flight. It's time for us to really take action with our wings. Become the CEO of your life, your career, or your business if you choose to have one. Set some really big, audacious goals. Pursue those dreams that you have fearlessly.

You can show up unapologetically as your fearless self, and then trusting your abilities as well to make a difference in the world so that you can fly high, beautiful, and like a butterfly. I want to read an excerpt from the book Untamed by Glennon Doyle, because this‌ speaks volumes to what it takes to step into that space and also to know that it is your responsibility.

To just set the tone here, she's in a yoga studio. She says here,

“I will not stay, not ever again, in a room or conversation or relationship or institution that requires me to abandon myself. When my body tells me the truth, I'll believe it. I trust myself now, so I will no longer suffer voluntarily or silently for long. I'll look to those women to my left and my right who must stay because it is that time for them because they have to know what love and God and freedom are, not before they could know what love and God and freedom are. Because they want to know. Because they are warriors. I'll send them every bit of my strength and solidarity to help them through this part. Then I'll pick up my yoga mat and slowly and deliberately walk out because I've just remembered that the sun is shining, the breeze is cool, and these doors aren't even locked.”

How many of you women right now are sitting in circumstances in your cubicle in a role that no longer serves you? The other point that I want to mention is to take a self assessment as to what serves you in your current life right now.

What is serving you? What is serving you really well that you want to continue for the next six months into 2023? When the things that are not serving you, you need to remove them. Find ways to eliminate those things.

Avil Beckford

That's pretty good. Can you hold up that book that you're reading from so people can see it?

Kadine Cooper

I can. Oh, Untamed by Glennon Doyle.

Avil Beckford

Thank you so much. You packed a whole lot in that short time.

Kadine Cooper

Thank you.
