Your Skin is the largest organ in the body, and it is a major role in taking care of it. As November is National Healthy Skin Month, we are going to bring much awareness to your skin and how to take care of it. And one of the most essential things your skin needs is vitamins. Here are some essential vitamins that makes your skin healthy.

1. Vitamin D.

It is mostly made in the process of the skin absorbing the rays from the sunlight ray. It is the cholesterol in your body that helps with this process. The vitamin D is transported to your liver and kidneys, and then it will travel around the whole body to help produce healthy cells for the body which also involves the skin, as vitamin D helps in a vital role of leveling skin tones. There is also a man-made version of vitamin D called calcitriol which is a topical cream that is produced naturally. Vitamin D also helps in the treatment of a condition called psoriasis. A study that was conducted in 2009 stated that the calcitriol after being applied has treated skin inflammation and reduce irritation for individuals with only a few side effects.

2. Vitamin C.

Vitamin C is mostly located at the epidermis and the dermis. It has cancer-fighting characteristics and its ability to produce collagen which plays a huge role to keep your skin healthy. This is the main reason that vitamin C is one of the major ingredients used in a lot of skincare products. When you take vitamin C, you are protecting yourself from harmful UV rays and also reduces the risks of cell damage, and help in proper wound healing for quick recovery. It also reduces the aging signs because of the production of collagen.

3. Vitamin E.

Like vitamin C, vitamin E also helps in protecting against harsh sun rays, it absorbs the UV rays. It also helps in the treatment of skin inflammation. It also helps to prevent dark spots and wrinkles. The body produces vitamin E through sebum, this is an oily substance that is gotten through skin pores. In the right amount, sebum will help to keep the skin moist and free from dryness. You can get vitamin E from your daily diet. An average adult needs 15 mg of vitamin E daily.

4. Vitamin K.

This is a vital item in aiding the body process in blood clotting which aids in wound healing, surgery scars, and so on. It also helps to treat skin conditions like stretch marks, spider veins, dark spots, scars, and dark circles under the eyes. You can find vitamin K in different topical creams that you can apply to the skin. It is mostly recommended when a patient just went through surgery. It helps speed up the healing process but the effect is not as much as vitamin E and vitamin C.
