MEET THE BEARS AROUND THE WORLD ADVENTURE.

Tags: bear book

After thoroughly enjoyed enjoyed Caring Conservationists Who Are Changing Our Planet my little bookworms and I jumped {quite literally in their case} at the chance of sharing our thoughts on ...

Big ones, little ones, cheeky ones and shy ones -
there are eight species of Bear in the world, so which sort is your teddy? Is it white like the polar bear, or have a long tongue like the sloth bear? Is it shaggy like the brown bear, or have the markings like the spectacled bear? Let's go on an adventure across ice, mountains, deserts, forests and rivers, to see bears in their natural habitats.
Bring your teddy and pack your bags - it's going to be
PAWSOME !

Having settled down accompanied by various teddy bears, one of whom was a 'koala bear' which, as we learnt from the book, was more closely related to kangaroos and wombats {but we let him stay anyway}, we began to learn about the bears of the world.

Beautifully illustrated, the pictures alone kept the youngest of the little bookworms, a pre-reader, happily entertained whilst the older ones enjoyed reading about all manner of bears including some they hadn't heard of or thought were made up ... that the littlest of them was surprised not to find Paddington Bear featured amongst them rather sweet.

Not only an informative guide to all eight bears, the Polar bear; the Brown bear; the Black bear; the Spectacled bear; the Sloth bear; the Sun bear; the Giant Panda and the Asiatic Moon bear, of what they looked like etc, but there were also a useful map of where in the world they were to be found as well as a chart showing the average measurements of the male bears compared to that of an average six year old child and a useful guide as how to stay safe in 'Bear Country'.

A truly delightful read that will definitely be read and referred to for a long time to come, the middle bookworm {aged 6} has already requested that the book go into school with them to be shared with their friends and teacher ...  the perfect addition to not just the home but also the school library, I think this a great idea.

I live in the sunny South of France with my family. I hop back to the UK regularly to visit family, tea shops, pubs and bookshops! I write wild and adventurous children’s fiction and non-fiction about animals, people and STEM that encourage a can-do spirit, a quest for knowledge and a sense of adventure. I love to use immersive story-telling techniques to inspire and enthral my young readers and their parents and teachers too.

My research skills were honed by a love of books, studying for an international business degree, working as a marketer for food companies and then as a freelance writer. In 2014, my children’s story, The Elephant Carnival, won a Walker Books Animal Stories competition for 4-7-year-olds. I also won The First Chapter of a Novel competition at the Winchester Literary Festival for a YA concept. I studied short story writing at The London School of Journalism and writing for children at agency Curtis Brown Creative.

In 2021 I sold my first children’s non-fiction book. I now have ten children’s books under contract with publishers Walker Books, Dorling Kingsley/PRH, Bloomsbury, Welbeck, Kingfisher/Macmillan, and Wide Eyed Editions/Quarto.

Agree or disagree with me, all opinions are my own. No financial compensation was asked for nor given. Threats of violence towards my favourite teddy bear went unheeded as did promises of chocolate.
