Right steps to be taken to be fluent in English

To speak English well ,cultivate a habit of listening to English news coming either on Internet radio(www.ibnlive.com/podcasting.html) or on the T.V. Note down the bombastic words and look the words up in the dictionary. Do observe the accent of the news readers and imitate the good. Notice the grammatical structures of sentences and store them in mind. Try to communicate all your ideas in English as far as possible. Read English newspapers daily and refer to the dictionary to know the meanings of some tough words. ENJOY writing in English at least by framing some sentences using the general words. All this should be a regular process. It boosts your vocabulary as well as your fluency.

To strengthen your English ,find one good partner to speak with. Your interactions with your friends will make you speak effectively. To gain fluency in English , think in English and put forth your feelings. Both the subject the matter and free expansion are essential to become an eloquent speaker.

Adopt some expressions which serve as gap-fillers e.g “So far as my knowledge is concerned,as a matter of fact, in fact ,to speak truth, after that, at last ,at the outset , I opine that, I strongly feel that, last but not least” etc. Use some stock sentences as per the contexts. e.g “Where there is will there is a way”. Similarly ,there should be some variety of sentences in our speech. The simple, complex and compound sentences is commendable.

Now let me give you some tips to make you become an extempore speaker. Learn as many as phrases as you can and stress them in a particular pattern. E.g TO secure a good rank, to drink water, to attend the function, to take care of someday, to avoid the problem, after reaching the station, after getting up from bed, after knowing the truth, for the sake of , for the success of , for your company, for the betterment” etc.

Don't lose the opportunity of listening to academic meetings, group discussions, seminars, elocution and debating competitions etc. Pay your years to practical English conversations. Read the English magazines you like. Write letters to your friends in English. Besides doing all these things, try to speak for one minute without pausing for breath. E.g speak on fan , a table, a bus, a black board, honesty , friend ship etc. If you can are successful in doing so ,you are sure to be a good orator .You can play word-games. A person gives an English word and other frames a sentence using the word. Like that you may go on framing the new sentences with the new words.

Two different words are to be used in a single meaningful sentence instantly. It should be continued like a game. E.g 1) boat 2)road . We can't row a boat on the road. 1) knowledge 2)food . Some knowledge is required to earn money for food.1) doctor 2) actor . My friend has two brothers one is doctor and other is an actor. If any one succeeds in doing so , he will gain fluency within a short span . Above all, one must converse in English with one's kith and kin .

A short sentence can be expanded into lengthy one by following certain tips. After speaking a short sentence ,you have to question what, where , when ,why how etc. and you may get some answers to those questions. By adding all those answers logically , lengthy expressions can be made. E.g I went (where?) ------I went to mumbai(when?)----Last Sunday I went to mumbai( at what time?)----Last Sunday at 10 am., I went to mumbai along with my friends (how?) ----Last Sunday at 10 a.m , I went to mumbai along with my friends by bus to take an MBA entrance exam (where?)-----Last Sunday I went to mumbai to take an MBA entrance exam at Vassu college near the airport.
