Sunrise at Nagtabon Beach, Palawan, Philippines |
I see the daylight like a dream
Beyond the meadows, summer-sweat afar
And now the twinkle of a sunset star!
The ling’ring twilight wanes, the heavens dim
Behind the languor of the fading gleam.
I breathe the perfume of some hidden bloom,
Delusive in the calm… How sweet my visions seem!
I cannot see the world around: the sight
Seems in the calm of its ethereal away
The closing glory of my longings vain
And then methinks I reel in that delight
And promised beauty of a sighed-for day…
But dreams are dreams, O cruel love! O pain!
