Harry Kane: Will He Win Ultimate Club Trophy in First Season after Bayern Munich Move?

One of the biggest names in the biggest sport in the world, Harry Kane, finally made his long-rumored move away from Tottenham Hotspur in pursuit of some silverware. Now 30 years old, his record in the prestigious division still warrants the €100 million fee paid by Bayern Munich, and so far, he looks to be making good on the valuation.

After a cameo appearance in the losing effort of the DFL-Supercup, Kane scored three goals and set up another in his first three games for the reigning German champions. He’s mixed in well and will almost certainly continue to score at a high rate. Still, the true contest for Bayern every year is the Champions League.

Can Harry Kane win the Champions League this season?

It would be quite the storyline if Harry Kane left his only club for the German champions to win the UEFA Champions League immediately. As it stands, the Champions League betting futures have Bayern at +550 to take the crown for the first time since 2020, only sitting behind the reigning champs, Manchester City at +200.

Funnily enough, Kane’s first chance to impress on the grandest European stage will come against the team many assumed he’d eventually join. In the Champions League tips guide for what teams Manchester United could draw in the group, Bayern were one of the absolute picks to avoid – but they couldn’t.

This puts Kane on a collision course with the team that reportedly tried to woo him several times over. In his time with Spurs, Kane could only muster five goals and three assists in 19 games against United. However, he’s now surrounded by a far stronger team, and if their injury situation doesn’t suddenly change, the Red Devils are very weak at the back.

Perhaps even a treble for Kane in his first season

Bayern Munich are overwhelmingly expected to win the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal this season. Last season, the Bundesliga came down to goal difference, but as is always the case, their closest competitors have been gutted by larger clubs. Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig have seen major players depart over the summer.

In the Champions League, the Bavarian giants have hit the same speed bump in each of the last three seasons. After winning the European crown in 2020, Bayern have bowed out in the quarter-finals in 2021, 2022, and 2023. Their losses came to Paris Saint-Germain on away goals, Villarreal by one goal, and the eventual champions last year.

Kane can, undoubtedly, be the difference maker in such closely contested Champions League games. One of the reasons why the league was so close last season, and why Bayern proved little threat to Manchester City in the quarter-finals, was their lack of a world-class goal threat. Kane is that goal threat, so their odds of sweeping up three trophies in 2023/24 have drastically increased since the end of last season.

Harry Kane went to Germany to finally win some trophies. In just one season, if he stays fit, the English striker looks destined to not only win the two major domestic trophies, but he’s also in a great place to win the Champions League.
