Dawn has a gift for anthropomorphizing woodland creatures in the most unique of ways.  From Popplin’s eye for design and style to the impeccable taste of each of the male characters, she brought each animal to life.  I loved the unique characteristics embedded throughout the Book such as the hand-drawn portraits and illustrations of each character sprinkled throughout the book, and the identifying characteristics of each animal.  Each of these details kept me guessing about how each character was connected to the storyline and about which character had committed a murder.  I loved the close and endearing friendship between Popplin and Dover.  This books wonderful Victorian setting and unique style makes it accessible to readers young and old; I think readers of all age groups will truly enjoy the zany antics of the Inn’s guests and the growing suspense as these characters try to find the missing jewels and solve the case. Readers will be delighted, charmed and kept amused, while trying to solve the cleverly imagined mystery tale.
