She’s part of my family’s revenge, the governments pawn, and my obsession.

HUNTER
Weakness isn’t something I can afford right now.
My brother wants to use the club to take my birthright.
Killing him is tempting, but I can’t with the club’s future at stake.
I’ll have to be patient.
Wait for the right time to spring my trap.
Only my brother put her into play.
He’ll pay for that bit of deception.
Nobody touches what’s mine and lives.

BRANDY
It’s a dangerous and seductive game we play.
A game I’m unprepared for.
A field agent can handle interrogation, stress, and pressure.
Me? I direct them from the safety of my computer.
Until they say my sister’s freedom depends on me.
The only thing standing in my way is Hunter.
He doesn’t know it, but we’re about to cross a fine line.
The one between love and hate.
Everything will change when we do.
They’ll all see how damaged I truly am.

*This is a dark, contemporary, MC romance. The Devil’s Deviants series features gangs, violence, dark romance, and possessive themes. Each Book can be read independently and contains no cliffhangers.

Excerpt From Damaged by Gladys Cross

“Don’t mind these guys. They’re all harmless.” He pointed at Tweak. “Except for the one you’re sitting next to.”

My thoughts went to Hunter, and I highly doubted anyone thought of him as harmless. Probably none of them were, but I appreciated his attempt to reassure me nonetheless. Though, I couldn’t quite figure out why he was warning me about Tweak when Hunter was the one who insisted I stay in his room.

“Hey,” Tweak objected from beside me, a look of mock horror on his face.

Gunner shook his head. “She may as well know now that her panties are in danger of ending up by her ankles around your ass.”

If he only knew how broken I was, he wouldn’t worry about my panties ending up anywhere they weren’t supposed to be. Still, it felt good to have him joke around with me as if I were one of them. Like I fit in. It was high school all over again, only this time I was sitting at the cool kid’s table. And not because Cherry had motioned me over.

Tweak nodded his head in their direction and winked. “Tell these assholes that I’ve been a perfect gentleman.”

“It’s true, guys,” I said, playing along. “My panties have remained around my waist the entire day.”

“They had better fucking have.”

The object of my obsession stood there next to the TV, his nostrils flared, his fists balled at his sides, and a vein in his neck sticking out. His eyes moved over me, a familiar tingle dancing over my skin, making my core clench. He appeared slightly unhinged, and every bit the stone-cold killer I knew him to be. Yet, my body still responded to him. Yup. There was something seriously wrong with me.

Meet The Author Of Damaged by Gladys Cross

Gladys Cross lives in South Carolina with her husband, daughter, and furbaby. When she isn’t dipping her toe into the darker side of love, you’ll find her reading, beating her family at cards, petting goats, or spending time outdoors. She is skilled at witty banter and has an inappropriate sense of humor that finds its way into all of her books. Her everyday life might be mundane (she prefers it that way) but her books are anything but.

Interview With Gladys Cross

Q: Tell us something about yourself that isn’t in your bio.

GC: My father rode a motorcycle and I’m a former ‘old lady’. While my father was never a part of a club, my ex-husband was. The guys in his MC were always laughing and cutting up, and their spirt of comradery worked its way into The Devil’s Deviants MC.

Q: Tell us about your publishing journey. Did you always want to be an author?

GC: When I was in the third grade, we went on a field trip to The Vanderbilt Estate. An idea popped into my head and just wouldn’t leave. I was fortunate enough to have an awesome English teacher—shout out to Mrs. Stanley—who edited what I wrote after school. This was back in the days when you typed it up, brought it in, she marked it with a red pen, then I went back and made the edits manually. It was tedious and time consuming, but I loved it.

That crazy childhood dream wouldn’t become a reality until many years later when I met a publisher through a friend of mine who starting writing during COVID. And the rest, as they say, is history.

Q: If your book was made into a movie, who would star in it?

GC: This is easy for Hunter, Alexander Skarsgard. He did such a phenomenal job in True Blood, and in a lot of ways Hunter is very similar to Eric Northman. Brandy is a little harder because she has so many facets to her, but for some reason Dakota Johnson pops into my head. She’d have to cut and dye her hair blonde, but there’s something about how she carries herself that makes me think she’d do Brandy justice.

Q: What were some challenges while writing this book?

GC: This book actually took me longer than any other I’ve written to date because I got a bout of writer’s block. The first thirty thousand words flowed, then I looked at, and rearranged, those same thirty thousand words for the next four months.

Finally, a writer/publisher/editor friend of mine said come sprint with us. (Sprinting is when a group of writers will set a timer and write together, taking breaks in between to socialize.) Normally, I don’t write a lot during sprints because I’m too busy talking. What was different that day, I couldn’t say, but I wrote my little butt off and finished the book in a month.

Q: Do you listen to music while writing? Share your Spotify list with us!

CG: This is where I’m going to be boring and tell you I normally love silence when I write. I do my best work either while everyone is at school and work, or asleep. This time, I mixed it up because I had to get in Brandy’s head, and she didn’t listen to the same music. So, for the last month of writing I listened to bands like Slipknot and Metallica. In fact, you’ll see a lot more musical references in Damaged than in any of my previous books.

Q: How many books have you published and which is your favorite?

GC: If we count Order Bound as one volume (its three books in one), then I’ve published six books. They are all my favorites for different reasons. This Thing of Ours will always hold a place in my heart because it was my first book baby. Order Bound contains my favorite female character, Anne, who’s a kick butt vampire with sarcastic tendencies. Devil’s Secretary was just plain fun to write, Inked was meant to uplift my girls, and Hunter from Damaged is my favorite male character. There’s just something compelling about him—you’ll see what I mean when you read the book.

This or That Questions:

Book or Movie? Books all the way. I rarely watch TV.
Shower or Bath? Shower. I seem to always be on the run.
Summer or Winter? 100% Summer. I hate being cold.
Print or Ebook? Ebook because I can read it on my phone, and I don’t have to worry about storing it afterword. One click and I’m onto the next one.
Spiders or Snakes? I’m deathly afraid of snakes so spiders all day long.
City or Country? Country all day. I’ll visit the city, but I don’t want to live there.
