Thousands Book For Durham Restaurant Week

Diners Are Snapping up Deals For Durham Restaurant Week which kicks off this weekend

Thousands of diners have already booked for Durham Restaurant Week, snapping up £5-£25 offers.

More than 30 venues have now signed up for the week – which runs from September 30 to October 6.

One of those venues, Faru – which was opened six months ago by former House of Tides team Jake and Laura Siddle – has already had to put on an additional lunch date to accommodate the influx of bookings for its £60 tasting menu.

Paul Howard, Durham BID Manager, said: “We have had an exceptional response so far, with venues reporting they are either fully booked or receiving lots of bookings, which is fantastic.

“The whole aim of Restaurant Week is to shine a spotlight on Durham’s dining scene and get people to try new venues and flavours.”

With everything from Indian and Caribbean cuisine to Mexican and Turkish dishes on the menu for the week, diners are now being urged to get booked up.

Participating venues include Alishaan; Nudo Sushi; Spice Lounge; The Food Pit; Head of Steam; Zapatista, Fat Hippo, Estabulo and many more. Two new venues which only opened their doors in the last few weeks have also put on offers for the week. They include Bagel Break Deli and Café, which will have a sandwich or burger, bag of crisps and drink for £5 deal as well as Pesto Italiano, which has a starter, pizza or pasta and a drink for £15.

Kitt’s Pool Room and Bar opened its doors six months ago offering diners an American-inspired pool room serving up USA-themed hot dogs, pizzas and a range of Bourbons and cocktails.

Owner Martin Rogers will offer two hotdogs and a side, plus a one-hour game of pool for £20 and one pizza, side and a one-hour game of pool for £15 during the week.

He said: “I was born and bred in Durham and want to contribute to any initiatives that help drive success for the hospitality sector in the city.

“Plus, it’s a great opportunity for Kitt’s to get involved with as we are relatively new, and we’re looking forward to seeing some new faces checking out our venue and enjoying the deals we have available.”
