I’m sad I didn’t like The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren as I expected.

I like In a Holidaze enough to read another Christina Lauren novel. I chose The Unhoneymooners as my second novel and now I’m not sure if there’s going to be a third.

JK, I still want to read The Soulmate Equation.

I’ve read a lot of good reviews on bookstagram about The Unhoneymooners that’s why I decided to read it but… it didn’t sit well with me.

There are parts that made me laugh and there are parts that made me excited for the characters but it’s not enough for me to like or recommend this book overall.

The Unhoneymooners Spoiler

Olive and Ethan end up going to Dane and Ami’s Honeymoon in Hawaii because D and A got food poisoned because of the fish at their wedding’s buffet. O and E didn’t eat because they are both allergic to fish.

They pretend to be Ami and Dane in the honeymoon. Olive bumps into her future boss and suddenly an employee of the hotel calls her Mrs. Thomas so she has to go with it. She says she’s newly married and her future boss invites her and her “new husband” Ethan to dinner with his wife. Blah blah they went to dinner.

They bump into Ethan’s ex Sophie who’s newly engaged. They also pretend they’re newly weds to Sophie.

Blah blah they kiss while Ethan is drunk. Ethan admits he wanted to ask Olive out since they first met. His brother Dane was against it. They have sex.

Ethan says Dane was seeing other women while Dane was dating Ami. He thought Olive knows about this. Olive says no.

They go back home. They’re kissing in the airport when Dane and Ami see them. Obviously surprised.

Olive got fired at her new job on her very first day after telling Mr. Hamilton that Ethan and she aren’t really married and that they just had to pretend for the free honeymoon.

Dane hits on Olive. Ethan doesn’t believe Olive. Olive leaves. Olive tells Ami about Dane. Ami gets mad. Ethan and Olive meet again and Ethan breaks up with her.

And then Olive and Ami are talking to each other again. Ami sees Dane’s phone and sends a message to Dane’s girls.

Olive goes to Ami and Dane’s house. Dane’s girl all went to the house. Dane finally gets caught. Ethan is also there because Ami texted him. He says sorry to Olive.

Blah blah Ethan makes this grand gesture at the restaurant where Olive now works. They get back together.

Blah blah after two years Ami has a new boyfriend and Ethan proposes to Olive in Hawaii.

Important note: I didn’t include everything that happened in the book like the activities Olive and Ethan did in Maui, Olive and Ami’s family, Olive’s new job as a waitress, and other things. I focused on Olive and Ethan while writing this spoiler.
