What It Means When You Dream About Other People

Tags: dream

I had a Dream ‘first’ this week. I dreamed about the same person two nights in a row.

I dreamed of Martha Beck. She is an author and life coach (Oprah’s life coach) and I recently finished reading her amazing book The Way of Integrity.

When we dream about other people we can identify in a dream, they usually are a stand-in in the dream for the qualities that we ascribe to them. I like to think of it as the dream is encouraging the dreamer to access their inner qualities that the person has.

For example, if you dream of Melissa McCarthy, the dream is talking about your inner Melissa McCarthy. For me, that would be my inner comedienne. It might be different for you.

Or if you dream of your brother and the top quality you think of when you think of him is “strong,” then the dream is talking about your inner strength.

For Martha Beck, I don’t know a lot about her. But right now, her most obvious quality is integrity. It’s something she’s talking about a lot right now since her book was recently published.

So, I interpret this to mean that my dream is telling me about my own integrity in a situation.  Other details in the dream can help me fill out the situation and may even give me direction.

Since I dreamed about her two nights in a row, that tells me this is important for me to understand. We have repeated messages in dreams when it’s an important message for us to get.

Or when we’ve not heard the message the first few times, it will often become a recurring dream.

Think about a recent dream you had with a person you know or who is familiar to you. What might they represent for you?
