The Sloth and the Dinglewot is a sweet story that follows the journey of one little sloth Samuel as he steps out of his comfort zone.

Samuel the sloth loves hanging out with his brothers and sisters, but they don’t really do a lot. Samuel wants more so he decides to go out and get it “But Samuel the sloth had more than enough, keeping still and quiet all day was too tough.’ He meets the magical mystical Dinglewot and his dreams come true – although it isn’t always as easy as he thinks and he must face his fears with the help and encouragement of his new friend.

The Sloth and the Dinglewot is a really sweet story told in rhyme. It is on the longer side for a picture book, and I think it works well as it’s told in rhyme and the illustrations are beautiful and bright and colourful. There were a few times when reading out loud that I stumbled over some of the rhyme, but I adored the song and thought that it was super catchy – ‘Im the Dinglewot Jinglewot Dindledum Dee, If you want an adventure then please come with me!’

This fun bright story about friendship and stepping out of your comfort zone is a great bedtime read with a likeable and relatable main character. The length might suit slightly older kiddies.
