[Book Review] Visons of Flesh and Blood by Jennifer L. Armentrout with Rayvn Salvador

Summary

VISIONS OF FLESH AND BLOOD: a Blood and Ash/Flesh and Fire Compendium is a comprehensive companion guide for background, history, reader-favorite information, art, and reference materials. Combined with original short stories and scenes from some of the world’s most beloved characters, as well as never-before-seen visual enticements, it’s a treat for the senses.

Told from the point of view of Miss Willa herself, the compendium acts like research material but reads like a journal and cache of personal notes, allowing the reader to revisit the characters and history they so love yet view things in a different way.

VISIONS OF FLESH AND BLOOD by Jennifer L. Armentrout with Rayvn Salvador is a must-add addition to the series that any Blood and Ash/Flesh and Fire fan will enjoy.

Review

Visions of Flesh and Blood and a Book 5.5 in the Blood and Ash Series. It’s more of a companion book than a novel. It’s told from the perspective of Miss Willa Collins. Parts of it are written like Journal entries and the rest of it’s a deep dive into the story and characters from both the Blood and Ash Series and the Flesh and Fire Series.

I thought this book was a great way to summarise all that has happened in both series so far. I enjoyed all the bonus scenes that were in this book and most of the illustrations were neat. Willa’s Diary entries were spicy! But that was to be expected. At a staggering 580 pages, this is not a Novella so not sure why GoodReads has it listed as that.

I do think this is probably the weakest release in the series though. As much as I love Jen’s books, I didn’t need this book I’d say it’s perfect though as a reminder of what has happened so far, you wouldn’t need to re-read the whole series again before reading the Primal of Blood, and Bone as this book give you such a depth look back at the story so far.

My Rating: 3/5

About the Author‘s

Jennifer L. Armentrout

# 1 New York Times and # 1 International Bestselling author Jennifer lives in Charles Town, West Virginia. All the rumors you’ve heard about her state aren’t true. When she’s not hard at work writing. she spends her time reading, watching really bad zombie movies, pretending to write, hanging out with her husband and her Jack Russell Loki. In early 2015, Jennifer was diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa, a group of rare genetic disorders that involve a breakdown and death of cells in the retina, eventually resulting in loss of vision, among other complications. Due to this diagnosis, educating people on the varying degrees of blindness has become of passion of hers, right alongside writing, which she plans to do as long as she can.

Rayvn Salvador

Author Rayvn Salvador is a lifelong bibliophile who left her eighteen-year IT career over a decade ago to read and make stuff up for a living. She lives in Florida with her feline familiars and incredibly supportive beau—who hopes nobody ever needs to check her search history. They love to attend sporting events and concerts, but if she’s not doing that and isn’t on deadline, you’ll likely find her taking long walks through the woods, sweating while working out in virtual reality, investigating haunted localesx, or contemplating the recesses of people’s minds in documentaries
