I am a lover of great Poetry, and one of the best books I have read in a long time are those by Rupi Kaur. I feel there has been a bit of a stalemate lately with a distinct lack of poetry being published, so when I was offered a copy of 'Invitation to Poetry' I jumped at the chance. Needless to say, it didn't disappoint! Mihai Brinas is an Incredibly Talented Poet who deserves every success. Given the author is Romanian, with English presumably being his second language, there was no clunky language and the intent of each poem was clear as soon as you started reading. It absolutely shows in his work that he understands English to an exceptional level and never did I feel I was reading words that showed a lack of grasp of the English language. The book consists of 61 short, thought-provoking poems that flow exquistely from one to the next, and the prose of each is simple yet magical. The themes range from love, life and nature, to name but a few.

I didn't know what to expect, but I soon realised that I was going to love this collection. Each of the poems are easy to relate to and each struck a chord with me.

The birds get high in the sky
where nobody
can see them
how they get drunk
with the perfume of freedom

This was definitely one of my favourite poems from this collection. Heartfelt, beautifully expressive and emotionally involving. This is a simply stunning set of poems, and as the title suggests it explores various different themes rather than adhering to just one.
