Book Review: Last of the Mohicans

Tags: book violent
I recently finished this classic, The Last of the Mohicans by James Fenimore Cooper. A family member suggested it. I really enjoyed the book. It was long, but the use of the English language was great. The introduction to some geographic and French and Indian war themes was intriguing. It made me want to visit New York and read more. I didn't realize this was book two of a five book series. Someday maybe I will read all five.

Several words of caution. This is a violent book. I was shocked when I heard about a baby being dashed on the ground. I am a reader of the Bible, so it is not more violent than the Bible. But it is violent. Secondly, it seems that the main characters have a universalistic view point. All people worship the same God. Not everyone agrees with that view point in the book, nor in the world. Thirdly, I bought a .99 version of the book and it was horrible. It did not have chapter headings and had pictures that did not related to the book. Be very careful what version you read. I ended up checking out from my library and I was so pleased.

The linked version is rated well on Amazon. So I don't think you would go wrong getting this physical copy.
